In an IME, there is no treating relationship between the doctor and the patients. Through medical record reviews, an examinee interview, physical examination and diagnostic testing, the goal of an IME is to provide a totally objective snapshot of an individual's current medical situation.
Typically, these are cases involving questions of liability, residual impairment, settlement and closure for employers, insurers, and legal professionals.
